Abstract
1,095,261. Cutting tools. CINTRIDE Ltd. Feb. 18, 1965 [Feb. 18, 1964; July 22, 1964; Oct. 6, 1964], Nos. 6716/64; 29861/64; and 40627/64. Heading B3B. A cutting tool comprises a holder 30, Fig. 13, a seat 32, secured in a recess 31 in the holder, an indexable cutting tip 33 held on the seat by a clamp 35, and a chip breaker 34, the latter being held against the tip when the tip is indexed by a spring 37, The clamp has pegs 36 which engage recesses 30a. In a modification, chip breaker 18, Fig. 3, has a projection 19 which engages an elongated slot in the tool holder. In a further modification the chip breaker is formed on the clamp and may be of tungsten carbide. In a still further modification the chip breaker is reversable on the holder and is pivoted about a peg 82, Fig. 18.
