Abstract
1,095,081. Endless conveyers. CROP HANDLERS Ltd. Nov. 28, 1966 [Aug. 31, 1965], No. 37248/65. Heading B8A. An endless belt or chain elevator is in the form of a boom 16 pivotally supported by an upright 13 so that it can partake of a see-saw movement the limits of which are restricted by means of chains 21, 22. In use, a bale or bag (not shown) is placed manually on the lower end of the elevator and when it passes the point at which the latter is pivotally connected to the post 13, the boom tilts to lower the discharge end so that the drop of the bale or bag on to a trailer 30 to be loaded, is reduced. The height of the post 13 may be varied by the action of a winch 29 acting through a lever 25 and chain 27. The bale or bag is discharged on to a platform 37 which is thereby tilted into a discharge position against the action of a spring 41. This action is arranged to stop the drive motor 18 of the elevator. The elevator can rotate about the post 13 and is limited by the provision of chains (23a), (24a) (Fig. 2, not shown). The effective length of the chain 21 may be varied by pulling it through a sleeve 33 which is formed with a chain securing notch (34) (Fig. 4, not shown).
