Abstract

1,094,913. Jet propelled aircraft. M.A.N. TURBO G.m.b.H. April 13, 1965 [April 16, 1964], No. 15852/65. Heading B7G. A by-pass gas turbine engine has two propelling nozzles 7 rotatable about a common transverse axis, each comprising an elbow bend and an arcuate portion downstream of the bend so that the thrust vectors pass forwardly of the said axis when the engine, disposed with its axis horizontal, is producing direct lift. The nozzles are rotated, either independently or together, by jacks acting on the peripheries of the rotatable nozzles at their mounting, or on a shaft 9 on which they are mounted. The nozzles may be mounted on the engine, or on a nacelle or fuselage containing the engine. The shaft 9 has guide vanes 15 fixed to it.
