Abstract

1,094,067. Turrets. GROSS DREHMASCHINENBAU " 7. OKTOBER " VEB. Dec. 7, 1964. No. 49695/64. Heading B3T. A device for locking a turret on a machine tool such as a lathe, comprises a plate 15 secured in a recess in the underside of the turret head 4 and which is provided with radially equally spaced catch elements 13 attached to the lower side 16 of the plate. Corresponding equally spaced grooves 9 are formed in a catch plate 7 which is secured to the turret slide 1. The underside of the catch plate 7 is provided with recesses located one on each side of the catch grooves 9 so as to achieve local resilience. The lateral sides of the catch elements 13 and corresponding grooves 9 are tapered. Operation of the turret is effected by lever 20 having a cam action so that when released the turret may be indexed, and then clamped by the lever which forces the catch elements 13 into the grooves 9 and at the same time forces the edge 14 of the turret into abutment with the surface 8 of the plate 7. In an alternative arrangement the resilient construction of the catch groove is omitted and the upper surface of the plate 15 is relieved, directly behind the catch elements to ensure local resilience of the catch elements.
