Abstract

1,094,039. Spray-producers. SPRAYING SYSTEMS CO. Aug. 5, 1965 [Aug. 7, 1964], No.33558/65. Heading B2F. [Also in Division B3] A nozzle designed to produce a hollow conical whirling spray comprises a nozzle body 21 provided with a generally cylindrical whirl chamber, a tangential inlet passage 23 for the chamber, and a cylindrical outlet orifice 24, the base of the chamber facing the outlet orifice 24 being end milled to produce an endless groove (35), Fig; 4 (not shown) of arcuate cross-section centred on the chamber axis 22A and varying width and depth. The bottom of the groove lies in a plane disposed at an angle of about 17‹ with respect to the base 22B of the chamber and this angle constitutes a measure of the correcting or balancing action on the emergent spray of the groove (35). The milling tool (40), Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) traverses a line (140), Fig. 4 and in operation is moved parallel to the axis 22A relative to the body 21 to control the depth and width of the groove (35).
