Abstract

Novel 4-quinazolinone derivatives and non-toxic addition salts thereof having the general formula <FORM:1093977/C2/1> wherein R is an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbons, a halogen atom or a trifluoromethyl group and R1 is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbons, are prepared by the condensation of o-aminobenzoic acid with an N-formyl aromatic amine, containing the groups R and R1, N-formyl-o-aminobenzoic acid with an aromatic amine containing the groups R and R1, or by the cyclization of an N1-arylamide of anthranilic acid. Pharmaceutical compositions having a tranquillizing, hypnotic and anticonvulsive action contain as the active ingredient the above novel compounds.
