Abstract
1, 093, 874. Conductivity cell. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. April 5, 1966 [April 13, 1965], No. 15078/66. Heading G1N. A cell for measuring the ionic concentration of a gas, comprises a reference electrode 5 immersed in a reagent in a tube 3, whose lower end is closed by a porous diaphragm 1, having an electrode 2 wound round it. Gas, whose ionic conductivity is to be measured, flows into the cell through inlet 9 and reacts with the reagent passing through the diaphragm to change its conductivity which is measured continuously. In order to remove reaction products from the surface of the diaphragm, it is washed by reagent flowing from a chamber, formed by cementing frit 6 across the gap between the tube 3 and an outer casing 7, through the frit and over the surface of the diaphragm.
