Abstract

1,093,574. Castors. ARCHIBALD KENRICK & SONS Ltd. Oct. 4, 1966 [July 16, 1965], No. 30220/65. Heading A4U. The body of a castor is made in two parts 10, 11 held together by a cap 12 and the body is secured in the open end of a leg 18 of a bed or trolley by threaded pins 25 which pass through holes 19, 20 in the leg, are threaded into bores in one body part 11 and abut the other body part 10. Tightening the pins 25 forces the two body parts 10, 11 away from each other into engagement with the interior surface of the leg. The castor wheel rotates about an axis inclined to the horizontal and swivels about a vertical axis. A spindle 16 carrying the castor wheel is raised by means of a toggle linkage 17a and a pivoted operating member 14 to bring the wheel into engagement with a braking surface 17 on the cap 12. The cap is held on the body parts by a circlip 29.
