1,093,438. Sawing. WILLIAM CROSLAND Ltd. Oct. 10, 1966 [Nov. 11, 1965], No. 47918/65. Heading B5L. A jig saw comprises a frame and a headstock providing mountings for upper and lower clamps for a vertical saw blade, the clamps being disposed respectively above and below a cutting table, drive means for reciprocating the clamps whilst maintaining the saw blade under tension, and one of the clamps being biased towards a withdrawn or workpieceloading position wherein it holds the saw blade clear of the upper surface of the table when the saw is released from the other clamp. The description in the present Specification is substantially identical with that of Specification 1,093,439 with the exception that the lower clamp is not automatically operable to grip the saw end upon engagement of the end with the clamp but comprises a block 50 which is manually movable by rotation of a screw 55 to clamp the saw blade 29 against a second block 52.
