Abstract

1,093,307. Textile treating apparatus. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 8, 1966 [Sept. 20, 1965], No. 39987/65. Heading D1L. Fabric-dyeing apparatus of the kind in which the fabric is wound on a dyeing beam in the form of a foraminous hollow shell, is characterised in that a perforation masking member is provided on the shell. The masking member is in the form of a non-continuous band 1 having outwardly turned-back end portions 2, the edges of which diverge, and a sliding clasp 3 which engages the turned-back portions 2 and draws them together. The slidable clasp 3 is preferably also wedge-shaped. The band, which is preferably made of stainless steel, may also be provided with dimples 5 or projections 6 to limit the extent of withdrawal of the clasp 3. In operation, the band 1 is positioned on the beam to cover perforations which will not be covered by fabric; the fabric is then wound on the shell and dyeing liquid is forced through the fabric from the inside out or from the outside in.
