Abstract

Lignoprotein for use as animal food is precipitated from proteinaceous waste water by treating the water with substantially pure high molecular weight lignosulphonic acids or torula yeast-fermented sulphite waste liquor. The lignosulphonic acid may be obtained from sulphite waste liquor by treatment with tanned leather, followed by extraction with ammonium hydroxide.ALSO:Ligno protein precipitated from proteinaceous waste water by ligno sulphonic acid is used as a supplement for animal food. In one example it is mixed with fish-meal; another example deals with feeding chickens with cereal grains and crushed soya containing either the ligno protein of the invention or, for comparison, herring flour.
