Abstract

1,091,703. Packages. CONTINENTAL CAN CO. Inc. April 7, 1965 [April 17, 1964], No. 14794/65. Heading B8C. Expansion formations 46, Fig. 1, in the sides of a wrap-around carton 43 for standard size containers permits the carton to accommodate slightly oversized containers. The expansion formation 46, comprising two vertical cuts 47, Fig. 5, of a generally C-shape and a perforated cross-bar 48 along fold line 30, fits round the shoulder of the oversized bottle, see also Fig. 6 (not shown). Apertures 29 in a fold 28 of the carton engage over the crown caps 44 of the bottles, and their bottom edges engage in apertures 36. The bottom panels 10, 11 of the carton are fixed together under the bottles by interlocking tabs 16, Fig. 8 (not shown), in slots 14. Two holes 40 in the top panel 25 facilitate carrying.
