Abstract

1,091,453. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. ELLIOTT BROS. (LONDON) Ltd. Sept. 29, 1965 [June 29, 1964], No.26798/64. Heading G3P. A hydraulic servomotor system comprises a valve 7 controlling the supply and exhaust of fluid to a chamber 2, to actuate a piston 1, under the control of an electric signal 16 fed through an amplifer 14 to a torque motor 12. Movement of the piston acts through a rod 17 on pick-off 19 to provide an electrical feedback 20 to the amplifier and also through a rod 23 on a spring loading 21A, 21B connected between the rod 23 and the valve 7. In the event of electrical failure, the springs 21A, 21B act on the valve 7 to reposition the piston 1 to a preselected fail-safe position. The valve may be provided with recentering springs 11A.
