Abstract

Dentifrice compositions comprise, as essential ingredients, a soluble fluoride salt, a soluble calcium salt, a soluble phosphate salt, and sodium chloride. Preferred such salts may be fluorides of potassium, sodium or calcium; the acetate, gluconate, lactobionate or chloride of calcium; and phosphates of sodium, potassium, ammonium or mono-calcium; the sodium chloride is preferably present as a solution isotonic with body fluids. The compositions may take the form of mouthwashes, toothpastes, toothpowders, or troches, with or withpreferably of a chewable base. The composiout conventional carriers and excipients, or preferably of a chewing gum or confection with a chewable base. The compositions are useful for rehardening softened dental enamel.
