Abstract
An organosilicon compound containing a Si-C bond is prepared by reacting in the presence of a dicobalt octacarbonyl catalyst: (A) a Si-compound containing at least one Si-H bond, and (B) a compound containing aliphatic carbon atoms linked by double or triple bonds. A may be represented by ZaSiHbX4- ab where Z represents a monovalent hydrocarbon, halogenated hydrocarbon or cyanoalkyl radical, X is halogen, an organoxy or acyloxy radical, a is from 0 to 3, b is 1 or 2 and a + b is from 1 to 4. (A) may also be represented by a siloxane of average formula <FORM:1090122/C3/1> where Z is a monovalent organic radical, e has a value 0.5 to 2.49, f has a value 0.001 to 1.0 and e + f = 1.0 to 2.5. (B) may be represented by a siloxane average formula <FORM:1090122/C3/2> where Y represents a monovalent hydrocarbon, monovalent halohydrocarbon or cyanoalkyl radical, Y1 represents an organic radical containing aliphatic carbon atoms linked by double or triple bonds. Examples of (A) are diphenylsilane, tetramethylcyclotetrasiloxane, phenyldichlorosilane, triethylsilane or trimethoxysilane. (B) may be tetramethyltetravinylcyclotetrasiloxane or octene-1. In the examples the catalyst is used as a 5% solution in toluene in amounts of 0.02 to 0.08 parts by weight per part by weight of total reactants.
