Rectilinear-motion bearings.-The sliding doors of glass counters, show cases and other shop and office fixtures are provided at the lower angles and other parts with ball or roller bearings, in which the balls &c. run in an endless race and upon a rail which projects through a slot or opening in the lower part of the frame. Figs. 2 and 3 show the endless ball race which is formed between a body part b<1>, a hardened steel block c and two side plates b. The parts b<1> and c may be formed in one piece and be permanently secured to one of the side plates b, while the other side plate b is detachable, and the block c may be plain upon its upper edge and ends and be concave or V-shaped beneath. The side plates b are bent or flanged to prevent the falling away of the balls.
