Abstract
1,089,438. Regulating fluid flow; fluid-pressure servomotor systems. T. M. STRAND. Oct. 29, 1964 [Oct. 31, 1963], No.44063/64. Headings G3H and G3P. [Also in Division F2] The outlet passage 5 of a float operated valve is provided with a resilient cylindrical insert 18 to reduce noise. The body may be housed in a bellows 20, and the effective size of the central passage 19 may be varied by screwing the outlet 2 into or out of the valve casing, thereby compressing or expanding the insert 18. The insert 18 may be made of natural sponge, foamed rubber or foamed plastics material. The main valve 7 is integral with a diaphragm and is closed when float 9 allows pilot valve 12 to rise to admit water to chamber 8 via passages 15, 17. When the float falls, the pilot valve vents chamber 8 via passages 17, 16 to allow the main valve to open.
