Abstract

1,089,434. Capacitors. PLESSEY-UK Ltd. Jan. 20, 1965 [Jan. 20, 1964], No. 2369/64. Heading H1M. A solid electrolytic capacitor comprises an anode of film forming metal, e.g. aluminium, tantalum, niobium, titanium, zirconium, electrolytically formed with a dielectric oxide layer and covered by a semi-conductive layer of manganese dioxide by immersion in manganese nitrate solution and subsequent pyrolysis; the anode being a flat or spirally coiled sheet, perforated, e.g., by slitting and expanding. An aluminium wire is welded to the sheet and the assembly is dip coated with a silver cathode to which a further wire is attached. Plural flat anodes may be stacked. The Provisional Specification refers to an anode of the non- metal silicon.
