Abstract

A blend of an olefin polymer, an ultra-violet light sensitizer, a monomer containing at least two allyl groups and optionally an antioxidant, is subjected to U.V. radiation to effect cross-linking. Specified monomers are diallyl sebacate, triallyl cyanurate, tetrallyl pyromellitate and triallyl phosphate, and in the examples benzophenone also is present as sensitizer. The antioxidant may be thio-bis(6-t-Bu-m-cresol), 2,2 - methylene - bis(4 - Me - 6 - t - Bu - phenol) or di-(b -naphthyl)-p-phenylene-diamine. Other features disclosed are partial cross-linking of an article (e.g. tube) to a predetermined depth from the surface, and preparation of memory products by heat treatment.
