1,087,303. Gear-finishing. CARL HURTH MASCHINEN-UND ZAHRADFABRIK. May 11, 1965 [July 7, 1964], No.19782/65. Heading B3K. In a machine for finishing gears, at least two passes are made, one being at a different speed from the other. One or two roughing passes may be followed by one or two finishing passes at higher speeds. To obtain the variation in speed, a multiplicity of electric motors, a variable-speed electric motor, an infinitely variable gear, and/or change-speed gearing may be controlled in synchronism with the lontitudinal or depth feed. A change of speed may be effected through an over-running or other clutch. The final pass may follow a roughing pass without intermediate depth feed. In one form of speed control, cones 113, 114, Fig. 4, are moved by electric or fluid-pressure means 116 and levers 119. In another form, different resistances are brought into the circuit containing the motor driving the tool The gear or tool may be driven.
