Abstract

108,628. Torrie, G. Dec. 18, 1916. Boat-disengaging gear.-When the boat is water-borne, an horizontal bolt CB engaging the lifting-link E is withdrawn automatically by the reaction of a spring SP or its equivalent on a pillar M, through which the weight of the boat is taken. The bolt and its eye-pieces are carried by a plate secured to the top of the pillar. A crosspin in the lower end of the pillar engages in a slot in a bracket F fixed to the bottom of the boat. The cross-pin engages with one arm of a bell-crank lever BC, the other arm of which is connected to sliding-bars SL on the plate at the top of the pillar. A hinged-piece HP on one of the sliding-bars is adapted to be turned down in front of a projection C' on the bolt, so that when the boat is water-borne, the downward movement of the pillar causes the hinged-piece to press against the projection and release the bolt. When the hinged-piece is turned back, the bolt is not released.
