Abstract

1,085,330. Bearings; lubricating. MYCALEX (MOTORS) Ltd. April 15, 1966 [May 7, 1965], No. 19351/65. Heading F2A. The bearings of an electric motor are lubricated by oil which is circulated through oilabsorbent material and through a porous selfaligning bearing. In an embodiment, a shaft 4 of an electric motor is supported by a selfaligning bearing 5 of sintered material. The bearing 5 is held against a seating 17 of the housing 1 by a metal ring 18 being urged by a resilient ring 19 which abuts a cover-plate 11. The shaft 4 has a spacer 8 and throwers and thrust washers 9, 10, 14 and 22 mounted thereon. In use, oil supplied through an inlet 25 is received by felt oil-retainers 16 and 21 and is passed through the bearing 5 to the shaft 4. The oil is returned to the felt oil-retainers 16 and 21 via the throwers, the inner wall of the cover-plate 11 and drainage channels 15 and 24.
