A portable table hotplate stand Fig. 2 embodying a heat storage member a utilizing heat from an electric kettle or electric iron during the process of heating. The heat storage member may be contained in a circular collar c and by a base b having an extended handle d all of which are made from. heat insulating material such as plastic or ceramic material. The hot plate may be adapted to form the lid of a kettle with the exposed surface of the heat storage member extending downwards into the kettle. A low powered electric heater may be incorporated in the heat storage member as a booster. The hot plate may be centrally mounted on a tray fitted with plastic feet to give clearance from a table surface (in this form the hot plate provides a stand for an electric kettle), and the tray may be provided with a rim which extends upwards so that the upper extremity of the rim is greater in height than the surface of the hotplate to prevent a dish or plate sliding off the previously heated hot plate. If necessary, the tray rim may include a rebate for the toe of an electric iron. The tray may be adapted, Fig. 8, to accommodate two hot plates in wells n both of which may be heated in one well. as a composite hot plate after which the upper heat storage member P can be transferred with the aid of handle r to the empty well n.
