Shuttering for casting columns and beams is formed in two longitudinal halves 10, 11 each half being backed by packing contained by a semi-cylindrical outer skin 22, to stiffen the shuttering and insulate the concrete while setting. The two halves are connected by hinges 15. The packing may be a rigid setting foamed synthetic resin or foamed rubber.
