Abstract

Pile fabric is made by laying yarn across parallel bars, pressing it down between the bars to form loops by means of sinkers operated by a slur cock (as in a knitting machine), beating the loops close together by means of a comb whose teeth penetrate between the bars, and applying a solution of polyvinyl chloride to the top and bottom of the loops; the structure is then cut through the middle to form two pile fabrics.
