Abstract

1,082,895. Motor vehicle axles. HANDS (LETCHWORTH) Ltd. July 26, 1966 [Aug. 18, 1965], No. 35466/65. Heading B7D. In an assembly for a pair of wheels mounted upon a short axle 11, e.g. on the same side of the vehicle, the wheels are rigidly attached to the axle which is rotatably mounted in bearings 12. One wheel may be provided with a brake 25, the wheel being detachably secured to a removable hub plate 21, the other wheel being mounted on a hub plate 24 formed integrally with the axle 11. Alternatively, both wheels may be provided with brakes and mounted on removable hub plates. The bearings 12 may be mounted in a longitudinal arm 14 pivotally mounted at one end in a bracket 16 and supported at its other end by an air suspension.
