Abstract

1,082,749. Tracheal cannulas. O. H. DRAGER, [trading as DRAGERWERK HEINR. & BERNH. DRAGER], June 22, 1966 [June 22, 1965], No. 27888/66. Heading A5R. A tracheal cannula to be inserted through a surgical incision comprises an outer tube 1 of silver and an inner removable tube having a flexible part 8 secured to a tubular part 9, 11, the outer tube being curved along its length with a varying radius of curvature. The flexible part 8 comprises an elastic metal coil, or is of rubber, or a plastics material, and the outer tube is formed with a shield 6 to which is pivotted a member 7 able to engage the tubular part 9, 11 to secure the inner and outer tubes together. As shown, the outer tube comprises a quarter-circular part 1 and a straight part 2; in another embodiment, the outer tube is non- uniformly curved over its entire length.
