Abstract

1,081,707. Change-speed control. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. Sept. 10, 1964 [Sept. 13, 1963], No. 37033/64. Heading F2D. In a motor vehicle change-speed gear, a common, reversible, hydraulic, pneumatic or electric motor effects cross-shift and gearestablishing movements of a shift lever 12 in the usual double H, single H, or single H with one additional branch, pattern, respectively by cam means acting on a slide block 20 in a straight slot of which the lever is movable, and by crank means moving the lever along the slot. As shown, an electric motor drives a cam disc 21 through gears 16, 14, 26-29 and a crankpin 15 mounted on the gear 14, the reduction ratio between the gear 14 and the cam disc being 3/1. The cam disc has three cam segments corresponding to 1-2, 3-4 and Reverse cross-shift positions and acts on a roller follower of a cross-guided, spring-returned rod 24 fixed to the slide block 20. The crank-pin 15 is connected to the shift lever by a connecting rod 13, the crank-pin radius corresponding to gear-establishing movement from Neutral. Clock and anti-clockwise rotation of the gear 14 respectively effects up and down (and Reverse) shifts through the gears. Control (not described) of the gear and main clutch is semi- or fully automatic. The electric motor may be switched off, and the gear engaged may be indicated, by contacts or limit switches actuated by the shift lever or cams connected to the gear 14 or the cam disc. Preferably, the shift control is driven by an electric motor having a permanent magnetic field for rapid stopping by short-circuiting the armature. In Fig. 3 (not shown), a cam disc having a spiral groove including three concentric arcs of different radii is secured to the gear 14, the opposite ends of a lever respectively sliding in the groove and being connected to a crossguided rod fixed to the slide block.
