Abstract

A wet and dry pipe sprinkler system comprises means for supplying a chemically inert gas (e.g. A, Kr or N2) under pressure at least to that part of the piping likely to be exposed to low temperature during the dry phase of the system. Preferably, means are provided whereby the gas supply is automatically cut off when the system becomes operable.
