Abstract

1,080,145. Tool holders. STORA KOPPARBERGS BERGSLAGS A.B. Nov. 25, 1965 [Dec. 9, 1964], No. 50191/65. Heading B3B. In a tool having a cutting bit 3 clamped by a clamp 9 to a seating 2 in the tool holder body 1 the rear part of the clamp 9 is provided with a domed lug 14 which engages an inclined surface 16 of a recess 15 in the tool holder body 1 so that as the clamp is tightened down by means of a bolt 7 not only is rotation of the clamp prevented but in addition it is drawn backwards slightly to clamp the cutting bit 3 firmly against its rearward seating face 17. In order to allow for this backwards movement a measure of slackness is left between the threads 8 of the fixing bolt 7 and corresponding threads on the clamp 9 and similarly a shank or sleeve 18 which forms part of the clamp 9 and projects into a cylindrical recess 19 in the tool holder body is made slightly oval to allow clearance at its front and rear faces. The bolt 7 has threaded parts 6, 8 of differing pitch to provide clamping action on tightening down the bolt.
