Abstract
Flavin-adenine dinucleotide is obtained by culturing a flavin-adenine dinucleotide-producing micro-organism in an aqueous nutrient medium under aerobic conditions and adding to the medium at least one of the precursors of flavin - adenine dinucleotide. In examples Brevibacterium ammoniagenes, Brevibacterium linens, Micrococcus freudenreichii, Micrococcus sodonensis, Corynebacterium acetoglutamicum, Corynebacterium hydrocarboclastus, Flavobacterium arborescens and Flavobacterium devorans are cultured in aqueous media containing glucose, urea, potassium phosphates, magnesium sulphate, calcium chloride, calcium pantothenate, thiamine hydrochloride, biotin, peptone, yeast extract and sodium chloride and the precursors added are hypoxanthine, adenine, uracil, flavin mononucleotide, xanthine and thymine. Other precursors mentioned are cytosine, guanine, lumazine, dimethyllumazine, hydroxymethyllumazine, 4-ribitylamino - 5 - aminouracil, 6,7 - dimethylribolumazine, 6-methyl-7-hydroxyribolumazine and riboflavin.
