1,077,803. Automatic temperature control of enclosed spaces. PENN CONTROLS Inc. Oct. 11, 1965, No. 42999/65. Heading G3R. A system for controlling the temperature of an enclosed space comprises an electro-thermal actuator 18 operating on the control means 51 of a furnace supplying heat to the space, the energization of the heater 11 in the actuator being under the control of a silicon controlled rectifier 12, the firing points of the rectifier 12 being controllable by the output of a bridge 40 which includes a thermistor 50 responsive to the actual temperature of the space being heated and a variable resistor 48 for setting the desired temperature of the space, the bridge including a second variable resistor 41 the slider of which is operated by the actuator 18. Thus any variation from the set temperature of the space will cause the impedance of a transistor 31 to vary so altering the time constant of the charging circuit of a capacitor 20 whereby the firing points of the silicon controlled rectifier 12 will be controlled to energize the heater 11 of the actuator 18 to restore the temperature of the space to the set value.
