A cleat comprises a centrally disposed member a about which a rope may be wound and two opposed jaw portions b and c formed integrally therewith, one portion having an undercut groove d adjacent the centrally disposed member, the jaw members together providing inwardly convergent jaws yieldable to receive therebetween and resiliently gripe the rope.
