Abstract

1,077,057. Two-part couplings. PYLE-NATIONAL CO. March 3, 1965 [Nov. 17, 1964], No. 9123/65. Heading H2E. Contacts 14 are secured in bores in an insulating body by resilient fingers of a collet 50, which press a peripheral shoulder 43 on each contact 14 against one face of a rubber sealing disc 27 whose opposite face is supported by a portion 48 of the body. The body comprises two rigid portions 48, 49, which sandwich the disc 27, and a lead-retaining portion 12, held end to end in a tube 11 by abutting shoulders on parts 11 and 24 and on the part 12 and a tubular insert 16. The collets 50, which are in the form of split metal tubes with struck-in fingers (70), are produced by rolling rectangular sheets (Fig. 7, not shown), and are retained in the bores (Figs. 2- 6, not shown) by shoulders (86) and keys (80) on the body portion 49, the latter engaging slots (71a) in the collets. A nut 21 may be screwed to the forward end 19 of the body for receiving a mating connecting body, the two bodies being locked together by a sealing ring 36 located between abutting shoulders on them.
