Abstract
1,076,373. Magnetic switches. ELECTRICAL PROTECTION CO. (PROPRIETARY) Ltd. Feb. 26, 1965 [March 17, 1964 (3)], No. 8485/65. Heading H2B. On energization of winding 14 of a polarized relay the armature 5, which is normally retained against the polepieces 7 by the polarizing flux, is released under the influence of spring 15 to close contact springs 3, 10. The armature is returned to its normal position by depression of a spring-biased push button 24 which permits a hairpin spring 20 to rotate a lever 17 clockwise and move both contacts 3, 10 and hence a pin 4 of the armature upwards. The contacts remain closed until push button 24 is released. The hairpin spring may be replaced by a compression spring acting between casing 25 and lever 17. A parallel conductive path through pins 4, 6 and casing 2 to terminal 9 takes some of the current when the contacts close. A pivoted flag indicator (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) moves in sympathy with contact 3 and is visible through a window of the relay casing.
