Abstract

1,075,490. Container closures. D.H. SHARP. Dec. 14, 1964 [Dec. 19, 1963], No. 50837/64. Heading B8T. A safety closure to prevent opening by children comprises a cap 4 screwed on to a container neck with projections 14 which can ride over nodules 5 on the neck during application but which firmly abut flattened sides of the nodules when unscrewing is attempted. The cap skirt is split at 15 at positions between the projections to provide flexibility, and in order to allow removal of the cap a domed flexible part 9 is depressed causing the projections to lift from the neck and clear nodules. In Fig. 9, not shown, a deformable strap (212) is secured to the cap top and extends over its threads and engages an abutment (204) on the container neck. A packing disc is provided between the container mouth and cap top.
