Abstract

1,074,411. Television tuners. BLAUPUNKT-WERKE G.m.b.H. Oct. 8, 1964 [Oct. 9, 1963], No. 40992/64. Heading H3Q. [Also in Division H2] A combined V.H.F. and U.H.F. television tuner comprises a screening box 1 divided by partition 3, into two parts, each of which is again subdivided by further partitions 2. In the one part, each of the compartments so formed comprises a U.H.F. resonant line circuit, together with inner conductors 8 which are supported at one end on trimmer capacitors 9 which also support the fixed plates of a ganged tuning capacitor 7. The other ends of inner conductors 8 are supported by insulators 39 (Fig. 4, not shown) inset in the partition 3, passing through the insulators 39 and terminating in soldering tags 14 each of which carries one fixed contact 12 of a sliding switch 25 (see Division H2). Facing each of the contacts 12 and attached to partition 3 is a corresponding earthing contact 40 which also serves to screen the end of line conductor 8 and minimize loss of H.F. energy. The second part of box 1 contains V.H.F. components, the screens 2 having a cut-down portion 17 which supports a printed circuit plate 18. Change-over between two or more V.H.F. bands is effected by a further sliding switch 22 bearing contacts 21 which bridge corresponding contacts on the printed circuit plate; a projecting lug 26 on this switch engages an operating lever attached to sliding switch 25 so that the two switches operate together.
