Abstract

Hydrocarbon fuel compositions contain a minor amount of either a mixture of, or a reaction product of (a) an ester of a dicarboxylic acid containing 12-42 carbon atoms between the carboxyl groups; and (b) a polyamine or an hydroxyamine. A typical ester (a) is the dimethyl ester of linoleic acid dimer, whilst typical compounds (b) are tetraethylene pentamine, 1, 4-bis (aminomethyl) cyclohexane, diethanolamine, p-aminophenol, and 10-amino-1-decanol. The fuel may be gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, an aviation turbo-jet fuel, a rocket fuel, or a heating oil. Optional additives mentioned include phenothiazine, phenyl-alphanaphthylamine, lecithin, petroleum sulphonates, sorbitan mono-oleate, barium isononyl phenol sulphide, polymethacrylates, and vinyl acetate/dicocofumarate copolymers.
