Abstract

1,073,842. Loading vehicles. PHOENIX ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. Feb. 23, 1966 [May 6, 1965], No. 19224/65. Heading B8E. A hopper 1 of a chipping spreader vehicle is pivoted by a sub-frame 5 to brackets 6 of the chassis 3 so that it can be lowered on to the ground by a hydraulic ram 8 to receive chippings from a tipping lorry 10. The chippings are fed to a forward spreading hopper by a belt 2 provided with a spring-loaded pulley 12 to compensate for the variations in length caused by lowering the hopper 1. The hopper 1 may have an attachment so that the lorry may be towed thereby and a latch may be provided to hold the hopper 1 in its raised position.
