Abstract

Substances having enhanced cortico-tropic activity are produced by treating a "natural" corticotrophin (including synthetic polypeptides of lower molecular weight but similar activity to natural ACTH) by a method known per se for forming peptide linkages by dehydration between terminal -NH2 and -OH groups, whereby a poymer (e.g. a drimer or trimer) of the original compound is produced. The preferred method is treatment with an N,N\sv-disubstituted carbodiimide e.g. N,N\sv-dicyclohexyl carbodiimide.
