In a self-wringing sponge mop wherein wringing is effected by folding the sponge pad 13 by sliding a sleeve 21 on the handle 17 pivotally connected, by a link 24, to one of two rigid members 11 interconnected by a hinge 12 and secured to the pad 13, the latter is held in its unfolded operative position by the engagement with the link 24 of a clip 25 secured to the handle 17.
