Abstract
1,072,127. Joint-making packing; pipe joints. DE FORENEDE GUMMI-OG LUFTRINGEFABRIXER A.S. SCHIONNING & ARVE. Sept. 1, 1964 [Sept. 3. 1963] No. 35749/64. Headings F2B and F2G. A pipe joint sealing ring (6) is made of elastic material and has, in its free state, a polygonal cross-section with one or more concave sides (10, 11). The ring is elastically mounted on a spigot portion (1) of one pipe and, when the latter is introduced into a bell portion (2) of the other pipe, the ring rolls on and is compressed into a substantially rectangular or trapezoidal form between the pipe sealing surfaces (3, 4, Fig. 2). The cross-section of the ring may be irregularly polygonal (Fig. 7) and is preferably penta-, hexa-, hepta- or octagonal.
