Abstract

1,071,292. Valves. SAUNDERS VALVE CO. Ltd. Feb. 3, 1964 [Feb. 1, 1963], No. 4320/63. Heading F2V. An operating mechanism of the rising spindle type for a fluid control valve comprises a slot 31, 15, in the thrust piece 29 and the tubular extension 14 of the operating nut 13, respectively, through which a looking bar 18 can be passed when the valve is in the closed position. The locking bar has an enlarged end 34 at one end and a hole 35 for a padlock at the other. An adjustable screw 16 is located in the end of the extension 14 which can be set to ensure that the bar 18 is a close sliding fit between the screw 16 and the rising spindle 11. The screw 16 has a lock-nut 24 and a rivet 25 together with a cap (27), Fig. 2, not shown, prevents tampering after it has been set. The nuts securing the bonnet 12 to the valve body, are also sealed. The screw 16 may be locked by soldering.
