Abstract
An X-ray intensifying screen comprises a particulate X-ray scattering material dispensed in a polyvinyl alcohol binder. The material may be lead or lead oxide (PbO, Pb3O4), carbonate, oxalate or tetra-alkyl, 1-100, preferably 3-8, micron diameter, or calcium tungstate, barium lead sulphate or magnesium tungstate. The scattering layer may be on a support of baryta-coated paper, cellulose ester film, polystyrene or metal foil. The screen may also comprise a photographic layer (silver halide), and may include a stripping layer, e.g. gelatin or cellulose ether phthalate.
