A transfer gear-box for a vehicle comprises a casing 9 containing a primary power take-off shaft 10, adapted to be connected to an output shaft driven from the engine at crank-shaft speed, a primary main gear-box output drive shaft 11, adapted to be connected to the output shaft of the engine gear-box, and offset secondary power take-off shaft 15 and offset secondary gear-box output shaft 18. The take-off shafts 10, 17 are connected by gears 12, 13, 14 and the gear-box output shafts 11, 18 are connected by gears 16, 17, 19. The shaft 18 is adapted to drive the rear axle of the vehicle and may be connected to a shaft 26 to drive the front axle by operation of a handle 27 to engage a clutch 25 to connect shaft 26 with a gear 20 meshing gear 19. . . .
