Abstract

1,069,691. Telemotor systems. EXACTOR STERLING Ltd. Nov. 25, 1964 [Jan.27, 1964], No. 3469/64. Heading F1P. [Also in Division F2] A hydraulic system, Fig. 1 (not shown) for indicating the linear movement of a member (not shown) connected to the piston rod (2) of a transmitter (1), comprises an indicator (3) operable by a column of hydraulic fluid displaced by the transmitter (1) and a selector valve (5) which can be manually operated to direct hydraulic fluid supplied by a pump (9) to the transmitter (1) and indicator (3) to thereby prime the system. The selector valve, Fig. 4 (not shown) comprises a cylindrical member (51) rotatable by a control handle (52) in a block (45) having bores (46-49) connected respectively to the pump (9), the transmitter (1), a reservoir (8) and the indicator (3). In a first position of the valve, the bore (46) and hence the pump (9) is isolated and bore (49) is closed by a spring-loaded valve (57) so that escape of fluid from the column of fluid between the transmitter (1) and the indicator (3) is prevented. When the control handle is moved through 180‹ the valve (57) is opened by a cam (65) and output from the pump (9) flows through the bore (46), passages (56, 54, 55) in the cylindrical member (51) into the bore (47) connected to the transmitter (1). The transmitter, Fig. 2 (not shown) has a piston having a one-way valve which allows the output from the pump to flow therethrough into a line connected to the cylinder of the indicator (3). The indicator, Fig. 3 (not shown) comprises a spring-loaded piston slidable in the cylinder and provided with a piston rod adapted to operate an indicating device. The flow of liquid through the indicator cylinder passes through a sight glass (4) before passing through the valve (57), the bore (49), a chamber (62), a passage (67) and the bore (48) to the reservoir (8).
