1,069,688. Washing fish and meat. NILMA-NUOVA INDUSTRIA LAVORAZIONE MACCHINE ALIMENTARI SOCIETA DI FATTO. Oct. 12, 1965 [Oct. 15, 1964], No. 43296/65. Heading A2U. [Also in Division A4] A machine for washing fruit, vegetables, meat or fish comprises inner and outer tubs 4, 2 which are substantially U-shaped in cross-section, an endless water feed tube 11 with perforations 12 defining spray nozzles which tube is mounted in the top of the intertub gap and is fed through a cock from the water mains, a base support 1 for the outer tub 2, perforations 23, 24 formed respectively in the end walls 5 and the bottom of the inner tub 4, and a water spray nozzle 21 mounted within the inner tub and to one side thereof, the opposite side of the inner tub being formed to slope inwardly at its top. An overflow tube 22 and a drain 8-10 communicate with the intertub gap. After filling the tubs with water from the feed tube 11 the water is circulated by a pump 16 which draws water from the intertub gap through a pipe 15 and delivers it to the nozzle 21 to produce a swirl in the inner tub which contains the foodstuff to be washed. The tub assembly may be mounted on its base support for rotation about an horizontal axis (Figs. 3-5, not shown) to facilitate discharge of washed foodstuff from the inner tub. In use, dirt and the like passes through the perforations 23, 24 to the drain 8-10.
