Abstract
1,069,685. Electrolytic capacitors. P. R. MALLORY & CO. Inc. Aug. 31, 1965, No. 37251/65. Heading H1M. A hermetically sealed electrolytic capacitor includes within the casing desiccating means to absorb moisture and also other gases. The desiccating agent is preferably barium, strontium or calcium oxide, since these do not become liquid in use, or, less desirably silica gel, aluminium oxide, anhydrous calcium sulphate or molecular sieves, the latter group being poor absorbents for acidic gases such as sulphur dioxide and trioxide, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide. The capacitor shown comprises cells 13a, 13b held resiliently in position by springs 14, 18 and contact strip 25 and includes three rings 13, 19 and 27 of desiccant pressed into shape with the aid of an inert binder. The desiccant may also be in the form of powder or granules.
