1,068,938. Vacuum refuse collecting means. JOHNSTON BROS. (ENGINEERING) Ltd. H. G. SMALLWOOD, P. B. HIRST and A. D. COLLINS. Feb. 22, 1965 [Nov. 21, 1963], No. 7533/65. Heading E1G. A suction refuse collecting vehicle has a transverse dragbar 18 to which is articulated a towbar 14, for a trolley mounted suction nozzle 10, such that the rear end of the towbar may swing in a vertical plane and may be moved transversely to the direction of vehicle travel. The front end of the towbar may have a flattened lug 15 engaging the dragbar and adjustably located transversely by pins 22 in holes 21 in the dragbar. In a modification the lug is slidable on the dragbar under the control of a bellcrank actuated by cable from the vehicle cab.
