A photometric exposure meter built into a camera comprises a reference light source 11 the light output of which is set to a standard brightness by a potentiometer according to light measuring means having a photo-cell 15 and a meter 14. Light from the source 11 illuminates a glass plate 10. An image plane 5 has, in viewfinder 4 a reference spot formed by a mirrored surface illuminated by the source 11 through filters 7, 8 and 9. The diaphragm of camera objective 1 is adjusted until the luminosity of the selected portion of the object to be photographed is equal to the luminosity of the reference spot, thereby ensuring a correct exposure of film 3 which receives light through an open sector of a rotating mirror 2.
